C.  “PETITION FOR RESUMPTION OF 24-HOUR SECURITY SERVICE

“We the residents of Maple Pointe, would like the resumption of 24-hour security services.  Lack of security at crucial times {week mornings and afternoons especially} has become problematic.  Individuals who do not live in the building nor are visitors, have entered the building and have been spotted in areas within the building {laundry room, community room, sleeping in stairwells, and on the ledges in hallways}.  Many packages are delivered on the weekends and left unattended, resulting in them being stolen.  We are very afraid for our safety.”  -Effective New Year 2025-

2. Forwarded witn this message is the content of a petition currently circulating among the tenants of Maple Pointe Apartments, 150 W. Maple Street, Southwest Loop.  

3. This is not an initiative of our ministry.  Rather it is led by tenants on their own.  The petition content describes tenants’ concerns in their own words.  The petition represents a community violence intervention [CVI} concern [intervention] of the 349 unit, 1-bedroom, subsidized apartments {low income} housing community that is Maple Pointe Apartments of Chicago’s Southwest Loop. 

4. We are now ready to invite Live Free USA & Live Free Illinois to do an organizing workshop co-sponsored by concerned Maple Pointe tenants and our ministry.

5. By the way, the Maple Pointe tenants CVI intervention has also generated the following Black Elected officials and faith-based community solidarity demonstrated by quoting from the following meeting invitation now circulating the complex as a leaflet.
